From Founder's Desk

Hi folks

So This all started with me, Arun Kumar. I grew up in a very middle class family with roots in Kerala, but Faridabad has been my home for the last 30 years. Living in a city that became a melting pot for people from every corner of India, I was constantly surrounded by a vibrant mix of cultures, languages, food, and art.

I was always an average student, but my heart was set on becoming a fine artist. I remember the weight of the social stigma around choosing a creative path; my parents, understandably, wanted the "safe" route commerce, An MBA, and a stable corporate life. But I couldn't ignore my creative calling. I eventually managed to convince them to let me study fashion, largely because Faridabad’s history as an export hub made it seem like a viable career path.

The years following my diploma were a struggle. Without a "fancy" degree from a marquee college, I faced closed doors from almost every major design and export house. I refused to give up, though. I took on any role I could find small boutiques, freelance gigs, anything to keep my hands busy and my vision alive.

Then, in 2023, everything changed. I got the opportunity to join Sabyasachi Calcutta LLP as a Design Production Associate. Whether you call it manifestation or just relentless consistency, it was the turning point. Being there gave me a masterclass in how true luxury is crafted and marketed on a global stage.

From there, I moved to Koskii, one of India’s fastest-growing retail chains for bridal and occasion wear. Working as a fashion designer, I didn't just stay behind the drawing board I worked closely with the buying and category teams. That was the missing piece of my puzzle: learning how to bridge the gap between pure artistic expression and the hard data of consumer demand.

Today, I’ve poured all of those experiences the struggle, the luxury training, and the data-driven retail insights into Dori Bazar. My vision is simple yet ambitious: to build Dori Bazar into India’s largest online and offline destination for handmade, sustainable, and ethically crafted lifestyle and fashion products.

I want to thank everyone who has supported me on this journey so far. To those reading this, if our values of supporting homegrown talent, honoring the artisan, and choosing a more conscious way of living resonate with you, I invite you to join our community.
